DESCRIPTION:
Join us for MCASA&#39\;s Virtual Campus Training Session #4: Engaging in College Men in Sexual Violence Prevention in a Moment of Disconnection\, featuring Futures Without Violence&#39\;s CATAPULT: Campus Action Team on March 4\, 2026\, from 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm EST!&nbsp\;

About the Training&nbsp\;

College campuses are navigating a critical moment in engaging men around connection\, care\, and responsibility. Many young men are experiencing growing isolation and disconnection from peers\, community\, and support systems&mdash\;conditions that can limit emotional and relational development and complicate efforts to build campus cultures rooted in prevention and accountability.

These dynamics raise important questions for campus professionals:

What does&nbsp\;meaningful engagement with college men look like in this moment?

How can&nbsp\;we create spaces where men feel seen and connected in ways that reduce isolation and risk?

And\, how do we move men from passive participants to active partners in preventing violence and strengthening campus communities?

Research&nbsp\;highlights the urgency of these questions:&nbsp\;65%&nbsp\;of young men ages 18&ndash\;23 report that &ldquo\;no one really knows me\,&rdquo\; and nearly 70% believe that &ldquo\;no one cares if men are okay.&rdquo\; Addressing this gap requires engagement strategies that prioritize relationship-building\, voice\, and participation&mdash\;not just awareness or compliance.

In this free 90-minute free and interactive webinar\, Futures Without Violence&rsquo\;s&nbsp\;CATAPULT: Campus Action&nbsp\;team will share a range of concrete strategies for engaging men as allies in violence prevention and campus well-being. Participants will be introduced to&nbsp\;Unscripted\, a national storytelling and dialogue campaign\, as one example of how campuses can foster connection and invite reflection as part of a comprehensive engaging men approach.&nbsp\;

Drawing on current research and campus-based practice\, the session will explore how efforts like Unscripted can complement existing prevention work\, activate student leadership\, and support campus cultures grounded in care\, respect\, and accountability. Participants will leave with practical tools\, examples\, and considerations for adapting these strategies to their own campus contexts.

MCASA&rsquo\;s Virtual Campus Training Series is a 6-part webinar series\, hosted every year from September to April. These training sessions are tailored to college and university staff\, as well as community advocates and other service providers\, who do sexual assault prevention and response work with college and university students. &nbsp\;Facilitated by a combination of MCASA staff and national experts\, these workshops explore important and trending topics impacting all student sexual assault survivors. DESCRIPTION:
About the Training:

Drug-facilitated sexual assault (DFSA) occurs when a perpetrator uses drugs or alcohol to increase an individual&rsquo\;s vulnerabilities. They can do this by covertly giving someone an incapacitating substance\, known as proactive DFSA\, or by taking advantage of someone&rsquo\;s voluntary consumption of drugs or alcohol\, known as opportunistic DFSA.
Join MCASA on Wednesday April 29\, 2026 from 2:00 - 3:30 pm for a free training on DFSA on college campuses\, including cultural factors\, signs and symptoms\, and response. We will be joined by Detective Sergeant Jason Bahm of the Montgomery County Police Department\, and Dr. Jessica Volz\, Clinical Director of Forensics at Shady Grove Medical Center in Rockville\, Maryland\, who will discuss their experiences working with survivors of DFSA\, investigating cases and providing forensic medical care\, and how these cases differ from non-DFSA cases.

By the end of this session\, participants will be able to&hellip\;&nbsp\;

Define&nbsp\;DFSA and its symptoms

Explain&nbsp\;the impact of drugs &amp\; alcohol on memory

Identify&nbsp\;at least 3 cultural factors on college campuses that contribute to offender opportunity
