MCASA’s Comprehensive 32-hour Victim Advocate Training

This four-day training is designed for advocates who work directly with sexual assault survivors in any capacity. The training covers both introductory and advanced topics to provide a foundation for best practices for advocates in the field of sexual assault services. There is no cost; however, member rape crisis centers and staff receive priority registration.

  • Roles of Law Enforcement, Forensic Nurse Examiners (FNEs), Prosecutors, and Sexual Assault Response Teams (SARTs)

  • Safety Planning, Risk Assessment, & Cyberstalking
  • Confidentiality & Advocate Testimony
  • The Economic Costs of Sexual Violence 
  • Criminal & Civil Legal Options
  • Sexual Violence & Trauma
  • Self-Care & Vicarious Trauma
  • Reproductive Coercion
  • College Sexual Assault & the Implications for Advocates
  • The Prison Rape Elimination Act for Advocates
  • Working with Diverse Communities
  • Working with Undocumented Survivors
  • Working with Men & Boys
  • Military Sexual Trauma
