Federal
All 2025 Notices of Funding Opportunities were just removed from the US Department of Justice Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) website, and applicants were told to freeze their applications.
The OVW provides critical funding to programs that support survivors, law enforcement, courts, and advocacy organizations across the country. This disruption to federal funding threatens essential victim services and makes the plans for Maryland's budget even more dire.
State
The proposed 2025 Maryland State Budget includes a $10 million cut to the Victim Services Stabilization Act and threatens to gut Maryland's Rape Kit Testing Fund. These cuts would mean fewer crime victims can get the help they need and more than 100 jobs would be lost.
Tell your federal representatives that the Office of Violence Against Women stopped all grant applications and this will threaten rape crisis centers, reduce prosecution, and harm survivors.
Tell your state representatives that we need their help, not funding cuts - don't cut the Victim Services Stabilization Act.
