Audio Evidence – HB314/SB1007
There have been cases where rape survivors made an audio recording of the crime and the recording was both inadmissible and could not be considered by the court or jury. This bill would allow courts to decide whether the recording could be used in evidence even if everyone (including the perpetrator) did not consent to the recording.

Stop Silencing Survivors – Litigation Abuse – HB629/SB549
The Stop Silencing Survivors Act would discourage sex offenders from using the courts to silence survivors. In Maryland and across the country, abusers are using retaliatory lawsuits to silence those who speak out about sexual violence. This bill would provide additional protection from litigation for survivors who disclose sexual assault in good faith, while preserving the right to sue for intentional or reckless disclosure of false information or malicious allegations of assault.
