Lifting the Voices of Survivors

May 31st, 2024

MCASA is grateful to all the courageous survivors who helped advocate for improvements to Maryland's law on consent and sexual assault, bravely sharing their stories about how the justice system failed them.

One of these survivors, Aysia Rodriguez, shared a powerful letter to the editor of the Severna Park Voice recounting her experiences in both seeking justice and advocating for House Bill 496. We were honored to help amplify the voices of Aysia and her fellow survivors as they testified on the shortcomings of the previous law and the need for access to justice.

The Consent bill marked important progress, but we still have much to do in the fight to end sexual violence. Make sure you are signed up to our mailing list and following us on social media to stay updated on current efforts and how you can join the fight!
