The Frederick News-Post recently featured an article about some of the legal issues related to sexting by teens, including the complexities regarding explicit text messages and photographs. Frederick County's State's Attorney Charlie Smith addressed the Windsor Knolls Parent Teacher Student Association to offer a legal perspective, including how recently enacted revenge porn laws apply to shared photographs. MCASA's Executive Director, Lisae Jordan, Esq., also offered her insight and some advice for parents.
Jordan also encouraged area teens and parents with questions or concerns to contact their local rape crisis center. In Frederick county, this is Heartly House, Inc., at 301-662-8800. For listings of rape crisis centers in other jurisdictions, please visit MCASA's website.
