An appointee to the Washington County Board of Commissioners is being criticized for his conduct, including derogatory comments about women and racist postings to social media. The appointment of Vincent "Woody" Spong is subject to state Senate confirmation, and a number of parties have come forward expressing concern and encouraging the Senate to reject the nomination.
The Maryland Coalition Against Sexual Assault has sent a letter opposing the nomination, and this letter has been mentioned in articles in theBaltimore Sun and the Herald-Mail Media.
