MCASA works to end sexual violence in Maryland, but this is an epidemic that affects every state and every country. We’re proud to be one part of a national and global movement against sexual assault.
This Thursday is the 15th anniversary of the original V-Day, Eve Ensler’s project against violence against women. This year’s V-Day is bigger than ever with One Billion Rising. It is a response to the fact that one billion (yes, with a b) women worldwide experience sexual violence in their lifetimes. The movement calls on women and men to rise up around the world to demand an end now.
In Maryland, 15 events have been organized for Valentine’s Day from Baltimore to Bethesda, from Harford County to Frederick. Find the one nearest you: http://onebillionrising.org/page/event/search_simple.
For other ways to rise besides attending an event, visit http://onebillionrising.org/pages/ways-to-rise. Take a moment on Valentine’s Day to stand up against violence and be part of one of the largest movements of this century.
