Urge Congressional Leaders to Pass the Crime Victims Fund Stabilization Act

Dec 13th, 2024

Include the CFVSA in the Continuing Resolution or any end-of-year package!
(H.R.8061/S.4514)

National organizations are working hard to get the Crime Victims Fund Stabilization Act (CFVSA) in an end-of-year bill, but they need Maryland's help!

Funds from the Crime Victims Fund (CVF) are used to support services to over six million victims across the country, including Maryland sexual assault survivors. This funding is critical for rape crisis centers, as well as, our allies at child advocacy centers, domestic violence programs, prosecutors’ offices, forensic examination programs, and others who serve victims of crime. Decreased deposits into the CVF have led Congress to cut Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) funding by approximately $600 million and, as a result, countless victims in crisis will not be able to find help.

In 2023, Maryland passed the Victim Services Stabilization Act, to balance the fluctuations of federal VOCA funding in Maryland. Passing the federal Crime Victims Fund Stabilization Act would reduce strain on Maryland's state budget while still protecting survivors.
