B’more Healthcare Symposium: Seeing and Serving Human Trafficking Survivors

This conference centers around medical recognition of HT victim patients from a multidisciplinary lens. Wendy Barnes will be one of our survivors and her story centers around her experience with medical/nursing personnel and their response to her while she was in the life.  Powerful presentation with real answers for staff. Dr. Katie O’Conor will speak to the response of Hopkins/ Bayview and the impact on several cases, as well as a coordinated promotion of education and awareness within a healthcare system. Jess Emerson will speak to the vulnerabilities and ACES of those and how they are trafficked due to these patterns of addiction, trauma and psych co-disorders. Several case studies will be shared (of over 215 cases seen in 2 ½ years). There will be real answers in Q & A sessions and several other speakers during this daylong event.

SW, Medical, Nursing, and EMS CEs will be provided for this day long hybrid in person and virtual event.

Please look for an invitation from the US Attorney’s Office who is graciously sponsoring and handling registration.

You may reach out to Tom Stack with the Mayor’s Office on Neighborhood Safety Engagement for more information. Stack, Thomas (MONSE) Thomas.Stack@baltimorecity.gov
