About the Training:
This training will provide a brief overview of intimate partner and sexual violence in the LGBTQ+ community. This training will discuss important terminology and language considerations when working with transgender and non-binary survivors and how to develop an understanding of the barriers that these individuals experience when attempting to access care.

Meet the Trainer:
This training will be led by Dr. Camille Defêche Mackler (she/her) is a Family Nurse Practitioner working in community health at the Orange County Health Department. She received a Doctorate from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, a BSN from Duke University, and a BA in Global Health at Pitzer College. For 7 years, Dr. Mackler worked at Duke University Hospital in the Emergency Department, SANE program, and Transfer Center. Before nursing, Dr. Mackler worked in the public health arena, including the Primary Care Coalition of Montgomery County, the Women’s HIV Clinic at UCSF, and the International Rescue Committee. She is committed to improving care and access for LGBTQ+ patients and previously served on the LGBTQ Community Advisory Board, a joint effort between Duke Family Medicine and the Duke Child and Adolescent Gender Clinic. Her doctoral research centered on improving competency for SANEs in providing gender-affirming care to survivors of sexual assault and was published in the Journal of Forensic Nursing in April 2023.
