MCASA’s Sexual Assault Victim Advocate Training Series (Online)

About the Training:

MCASA's Sexual Assault Victim Advocate Fundamentals Training is an online training for advocates who work directly with sexual assault survivors in Maryland. The training covers both introductory and advanced topics to provide a foundation for best practices for advocates in the field of sexual assault services. This training will be facilitated by MCASA and SALI staff and guest speakers. Live webinars will take place daily (weekdays) from February 10th - February 21st, 2025.

*No training will happen on February 17th due to the holiday.*

This training series also includes self-paced online learning courses such as legal options for survivors, sexual assault prevention, and child sexual abuse. Access to these courses will be provided upon registration and will be available throughout February for completion.

February 12th: 10:00 am - 11:30 am - Maryland's Sexual Assault Kit Initiative (SAKI): Victim Notification Protocol 

February 13th: 10:00 am - 11:30 am - Intimate Partner Sexual Violence 

February 14th: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm - The Neurobiology of Trauma 

February 18th: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm - Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) Presentation and Panel

February 19th: 10:00 am - 11:15 am - Serving Survivors from Underserved Populations 

February 20th: 10:00 am - 11:30 am - Money Matters: Financial Empowerment for Survivors of Sexual Assault

February 21st: 10:00 am - 11:30 am - Professional Ethics, Vicarious Trauma, and Self-Care 

Important Notes:

  • You only need to register once to attend all or as many training sessions as you would like.
  • All training session times are in Eastern Standard Time.
  • All live training sessions will be recorded and made available to registrants.
  • Social work CEU credit hours can be requested at the end of each training session whether you attend the training live or watch the recording.
  • CEU credit hours are subject to change based on the length of the training session.
