Sexual abuse in detention is a nationwide crisis; however, it’s a crisis that we can end. Jan Lastocy, a survivor of sexual violence in prison, is working towards ending this nationwide crisis. She shares her story of sexual violence in a Michigan prison to audiences across the country and is working both nationally, and in the state of Michigan, to eliminate sexual abuse in detention and support survivors in their paths towards healing.
This training, offered from a survivor perspective, will highlight the importance of PREA, best practices when working with incarcerated survivors and correctional staff, and note the work left in ensuring the dignity and safety of incarcerated people. This is the final webinar of our four-part multidisciplinary PREA training series focusing on better serving incarcerated survivors.
