This training focuses on the role of victim advocates in supporting incarcerated survivors, specifically addressing how to help inmates who have experienced sexual abuse -- either during their incarceration or at some point in their life. This training highlights the value of trauma informed care when working with incarcerated survivors, concentrating on tangible advocacy skills including crisis intervention, safety planning, and advocacy in a variety of settings, modalities, and platforms.
This training is intended for advocates who work with incarcerated survivors, but all service providers who support the implementation of the Prison Rape Elimination Action (PREA) are welcome to attend— advocates, therapists attorneys, law enforcement, medical staff, correctional facility staff, etc. This is the third webinar of our four-part multidisciplinary PREA training series focusing on better serving incarcerated survivors.
