SALI on CampusBy Jessica Powers-Heaven, Supervising AttorneyMCASA's Sexual Assault Legal Institute (SALI) provides legal information, advice, referrals, and representation to students who experience sexual violence. Depending on the individual case, this could include activities such as informal advocacy with school administrators, accompaniment to a disciplinary hearing, or filing a Title IX complaint with the Department of Education. In addition, SALI offers students assistance with off-campus legal issues, such as peace orders or crime victims' rights. SALI attorneys are also available to provide training and technical assistance about the legal issues implicated by campus sexual assault to college and university communities, including students, faculty, staff, and administrators.
