As we approach the end of a busy summer at MCASA, we are excited to highlight the great work being done across the state to prevent and respond to sexual violence.
Our team attended many outreach events this summer, celebrating collective action to build safe and supportive communities across the state. Check out our team in action below!
MCASA is also wrapping up our first Prevention Summer Lunch and Learn series, where expert panelists discuss their prevention efforts in Maryland. We look forward to the next session on CSA Prevention on August 12th! Looking forward, our September Sexual Assault Victim Advocate Training (SAVAT) will kick off on September 14th.
Finally, MCASA would like to invite you to support our annual Call to Action. This special campaign highlights the accomplishments and challenges in the fight to end sexual assault in Maryland and 2026’s theme is Survivors Vote. We do not make endorsements of any candidate, however, we support and highlight the importance of survivors’ voices in the upcoming election. We need your support to keep the voices of survivors centered in Annapolis. Stay tuned for more details!
In this edition of Frontline, we discuss the need for peer-to-peer conversations to prevent digital sexual abuse in the Prevention Corner. Our College Consortium article takes a look into the impact of sexual violence on the mental health of student survivors. Survivor voices are centered in our article on Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C). We also explore the importance of comprehensive sex education for students with disabilities. Our Survivor Safety column addresses common misconceptions about sex trafficking and how to empower survivors. Finally, MCASA is proud to highlight the work of the Prince George’s County Family Justice Center in celebration of their 10th anniversary in our Program Spotlight.
